16th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (ICBM 2019)

Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), the largest management faculty of the Sri Lankan University System organizing the International Conference on Business Management for the 16th consecutive time in 2019, extending the geographical boundaries. The conference aligns with four different activities that take place at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka and Monash University Australia focusing the Sri Lankan and international researchers, the business community, policy makers from government agencies and interested parties around the world.

There will be three activities namely, research poster session, PhD colloquium and business forum planning to be taken place at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura Sri Lanka on 28th November 2019. The research session of the 16th ICBM conference will be held from 12th to 14th December 2019 at Monash University Melbourne Australia in collaborating with Monash Business School (MBS) and Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA).

ICBM Conference at Monash Business School, Melbourne Australia

Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), in partnership with the Monash Business School (MBS), Australia and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) will hold the 16th International Conference on Business Management (ICBM) in December, 2019 at Monash University (Caulfield Campus) in Australia. The theme of the Conference is ‘Transforming knowledge into action: Towards sustainable development in emerging economies’.

The Conference aims to showcase the current research in management by bringing together academics, practitioners, policy-makers and interest groups from diverse regions and perspectives. In particular, the Conference addresses some of the more pressing themes in developing countries, with a special focus on emerging economies.

Publication opportunities

The conference aims to be supported by four special issues of the following journals.

  1. Journal of Business Ethics (ABDC ranked A*, Impact Factor 2.917): Special issue- Imagining Ethical Organizations: Challenges and Insights from South Asia
  2. Human Relations (ABDC ranked A*, Impact Factor 3.043): ‘Be present, be attentive: Exploring mindfulness at work’
  3. Journal of Business Research (ABDC ranked A, Impact Factor 2.509)
  4. International Small Business Journal (ABDC ranked A, Impact Factor 3)

Deadline for abstract submission:             30th August 2019 (5pm AEST)

Notification of acceptance:                      30th September 2019

Deadline for early bird registration:          15th October 2019

Deadlines for authors to register:              31st October 2019

ICBM Research Poster Session at University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka

16th ICBM warmly welcomes all registered undergraduate and postgraduate students of University of Sri Jayewardenepura or any other university/higher education institute to submit their abstracts and posters for the poster session. This session aims young researchers working on sustainable development, economics, management and business related fields to showcase their research, discuss ideas and network with senior academics, fellow researchers, industry practitioners and policy makers.

Abstract should be submitted on or before 15th September 2019.

If your abstract is accepted, you will receive an email by 15th October 2019 with further instructions.

You will also be provided with a training session on Poster Designing and Presentation.

Posters and presentation will be evaluated by a wide-ranging judge panel consisted with academia, industry and University Alumni.

The best posters and presentations will be evaluated under following categories

  1. Best Poster Award Rs 10,000/- Cash Voucher
  2. Public Choice Award Rs 10,000/- Cash Voucher

PhD Colloquium at University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka

Continuing upon the success of the Doctoral Consortium at the ICBM conferences in previous years, we are scheduling a Doctoral Consortium to be held on 28th November 2019 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Aim of this consortium is to provide an opportunity for doctoral students in management domain to discuss and present their doctoral work-in-progress in a supportive and non-confrontational environment to a group of senior academics and peers.

This colloquium is open for all PhD students registered at any university whose research related to sustainable development, economics, management, business  and allied fields. The PhD students requested  to send their extended abstracts on or before 15th September 2019. 

The extended abstracts will be evaluated by a review panel. The notification of acceptance will be sent to PhD students through email by 15th October 2019.

At the assigned doctoral colloquium, accepted doctoral students will present their dissertation proposal and any preliminary results they may have.

Business Forum at University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka

16th ICBM  hosts an industry forum in Colombo with the representatives of corporate sector, columnists and the academia on the theme: ‘Transforming knowledge into action: Towards sustainable development in emerging economies’, parallel to the research conference held at the Monash Business School, Melbourne Australia. The event is scheduled to be held on 28th November 2019 at the university premises from 5.30pm – 8.30pm. The aim of the session is to bridge the conventional industry-academia gap by providing opportunity for participants to synthesize practical and theoretical aspects of the potentials and challenges in transforming knowledge into action in order to achieve sustainable development in developing economies.
